Misha Crews

Love stories about old houses and family secrets.

I’m very excited to share that my story won second place in Two-Sentence Horror Story Contest held by Shenandoah County Library! Very cool! I’m sharing my story and the first place winner here.

This was my entry:

My fingers twitched, but my limbs refused to move as she smiled down at me. “Goodbye,” she said, and closed the coffin.

Did I scare you? 😉

Here is the winning entry, which I have to confess I kinda like better than my own:

The ecstatic toddler ran through the darkened hallway in the predawn hours, his diaper clutched high above his head in his tiny right hand as he raised his voice in joyous triumph. His mother’s heart lurched as she heard him squeal, “Mommy, guess where I went potty?”

Adorable AND scary, right? 😂

Well, that was super fun. Thanks to everyone who voted, and to Shenandoah County Library for holding the contest! 🤗👻🎃

Two-story horror is my absolute favorite for Halloween. Just distilling terror to its essence like that is so amazing.

  2. Oooh, yours is chilling. Congrats! And the first prize one is hilarious. 😀
