Happy Halloween, my friends! I suddenly realized today that it’s the last day of October, so we are more than halfway through fall!I had compiled the following list after doing a poll of my newsletter list, and thought you might like to take a gander. I hope you’re enjoying All Hallow’s Eve!

Persuasion by Jane Austen

Readers say: Much of this classic novel takes place during autumn. The mood of the romance, dealing with the past and missed opportunities, aligns with the themes of change and reflection that the season often represents.

Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
Readers say: The wild, windswept moors of Yorkshire, particularly as the weather changes in autumn, play a significant role in the novel’s dark and brooding tone.

The Hollow by Agatha Christie
Readers say: Like many Christie novels, “The Hollow” is a classic country house murder mystery, perfect for curling up with as the days grow shorter.

Pretty Lentil Liars by Cathy Wiley
Readers say: The Lentil Festival, set in crisp October weather, is the ideal setting for this cozy foodie mystery.

Keep Me Ghosted by Karen Cantwell
Readers say: Although this book doesn’t take place in fall, this ghostly mystery will make your autumn-loving heart happy.

Just Don’t Fall by Emma St. Clair
Readers say: This closed-door romantic comedy has autumn written all over it – starting with the cover.

Anne of Windy Poplars by L.M. Montgomery
Readers say: This book in the Anne of Green Gables series is set over several years, but autumn in a small town and its academic setting plays a significant role in its atmosphere.

Be My Boo by Misha Crews
Readers say: “The descriptions of the haunted house and the fall foliage surrounding it were so vivid and immersive. I could picture every scene perfectly.” And “The author does an amazing job of setting the scene and creating a cozy, autumnal atmosphere that perfectly captures the spirit of Halloween.” (Stop it, I’m blushing!) (Just kidding, don’t stop.)

So, which one will you read first?

See them all on Amazon.

Hugs and Happy Reading,

Misha
